Mark a Constituent as Exempt under EU REACH

Tip

Some chemicals (constituents) are exempt from regulatory registration under EU REACH.
There are regulation-specific options to indicate why a constituent is exempt, as well the option to add supporting documentation. Chemicals may only be exempt from registration under specific amounts (tonnage), so companies may still register if they require larger volumes.
Marking a constituent as exempt in Active Steward is reflected at the product level, making it easy to see the registration status of all constituents that make up that product.

1. 👆 Navigate to Constituents 👉 Select a Constituent from the list.

2. 👆 Navigate to the Regulatory tab 👉 Select EU REACH 👉 Registration.

3. 👆 Select an "Exemption Type".

A reason is required for the type chosen. The reason can be selected in the table below the "Exemption Claimed" field.

Tip

If the "Exemption Type" chosen is either "Annex IV" or "Annex V", then a list of substances will show in the table below the "Exemption Claimed" field. The user needs to 👆 select the exempt substance from the list.
